Turning craftsmanship into a digital experience

Augusta Homes had spent nearly twenty years building a reputation for craftsmanship around Lake Norman. Its website told a different story. I redesigned the customer journey and expanded the company’s digital identity, then developed a Webflow platform that could grow with the business. The system later supported local search pages, real estate listings, and original film.

The Challenge

Augusta had the proof.
The website made it difficult to see.

After nearly twenty years in business, Augusta had outgrown its website. Temporary updates had created disconnected pages and an unclear customer journey.

Visitors could see completed homes, but they could not easily connect that work to a service or understand what working with Augusta would involve. Valuable photography was present, yet it was buried inside an experience that no longer reflected the company’s reputation.

For someone considering a major investment, that disconnect created uncertainty. The challenge was to organize years of content into a focused story that could build confidence before the first conversation.

Our Process

Turning a fragmented website into a scalable platform

Each phase answered a different question. Who was Augusta trying to reach? What did those visitors need to understand? How could the website communicate that clearly and continue supporting the business after launch?

01

Finding the opportunity

I studied how luxury builders presented their work online, then looked to hospitality and editorial brands for more immersive ways to communicate place.

The research showed that Augusta could move beyond the conventions of a typical contractor website. The experience needed to connect its homes to the Lake Norman lifestyle.

02

Rebuilding the customer journey

Nearly twenty years of updates had left Augusta with outdated content and disconnected pages. I audited the website to identify what should be preserved, reorganized, or retired.

I also evaluated the existing identity. The logo still carried value, but the wider experience needed a more consistent visual language.

03

Defining the user groups

Formal interviews were outside the project scope, so I developed working user groups from stakeholder knowledge and established customer needs.

Prospective homeowners needed confidence before making a major investment. Industry partners needed proof of Augusta’s standards and approach to collaboration. These perspectives gave us a practical way to evaluate every design decision.Formal interviews were outside the scope, so I created working user groups from stakeholder knowledge and existing customer needs.

04

Information architecture and wireframes

The research shaped a new sitemap that connected Augusta’s services to relevant projects. The building process became part of the customer journey rather than a separate destination.

I translated that structure into low-fidelity wireframes. This allowed us to validate how visitors would move from initial interest to contact before introducing visual design.

05

Visual system and content

Moodboarding established an editorial direction rooted in Lake Norman living. I expanded Augusta’s existing identity into a digital system where photography carried the story and the interface remained restrained.

Relume components accelerated layout exploration, but every pattern was adapted around Augusta’s content. I also worked with a content writer so the brand voice and page hierarchy developed alongside the interface.

06

Webflow Development

I developed the responsive website in Webflow and turned recurring layouts into reusable components. Project content moved into CMS templates so Augusta could publish new work without redesigning each page.

The system created room for the business to evolve. It later supported SEO-focused location pages and a custom real estate experience connected to Augusta Realty’s IDX listings.

The outcome

From disconnected pages to one customer journey

The redesigned experience guides prospective clients through a clear progression. They can understand a service, see relevant work, learn how Augusta builds, and then start a conversation.

Photography became evidence of the company’s craftsmanship instead of decoration around it. The expanded visual identity gave the website a sense of calm that better matched Augusta’s homes.

Behind the interface, reusable components and CMS templates gave Augusta a consistent way to publish new projects. The company could expand the platform without rebuilding its foundation.

The completed experience delivered:

  • Clearer pathways between services and completed work.
  • A more transparent presentation of the building process.
  • A digital identity that better reflects Augusta’s reputation.
  • A unified experience shaped by design and content.
  • A responsive Webflow system built for continued publishing.

The website became the foundation for a longer partnership

After launch, Augusta continued using the platform to expand how it reached prospective clients.

I designed six location pages around how people search for builders across the Lake Norman market. These pages created new entry points into Augusta’s services while giving each community more relevant content.

I also designed a custom real estate experience connected to Augusta Realty’s IDX feed. Live inventory now appears inside Augusta’s website instead of sending visitors into a disconnected third-party experience.

From launch to creative partnership

As the relationship continued, Augusta trusted me to expand how the company presented itself through motion.

I directed, shot, and edited a 1:27 hero film for the homepage. The film connects Augusta’s homes to the landscape and lifestyle surrounding them. It moves from Lake Norman into outdoor living before revealing the architecture, construction process, and long-term care behind the work.

I designed the film around the existing interface so it felt like part of the experience rather than a separate marketing piece. Responsive cropping and poster imagery helped preserve the story when video playback was limited.

REsults & Impact

A platform that continued creating opportunities

The value of the system became clearer after launch. Augusta could introduce new services and publish new projects without redesigning the website each time.

The six location pages expanded the company’s search presence across key Lake Norman markets. The IDX experience created a direct path from discovering an available property to engaging with Augusta. Two homes featured through the real estate platform have since sold.

What began as a website redesign also developed into a creative partnership that has continued well beyond the original launch.
